A letter from our ACG Governor

Healthcare, at least as we have all known it, is changing daily. With the advent of the Affordable Care Act came exchange marketplaces, changes in coverage guidelines, and of course technology evolves offering more and better opportunities for early prevention of diseases and healthier lifestyles.

The physicians at Digestive CARE remain committed to delivering the most advanced, cost-effective care to our patients and to do this, we remain engaged in patient and health reform advocacy at the State and National level. We want to keep our patients abreast of changes in healthcare and the direct effects it has on the delivery of care.

Our Gastroenterology societies work in coordination with other organizations and as a member of a number of coalitions to reach out to Capitol Hill, regulators and payors to ensure that the concerns of Gastroenterologists, and our patients, are being heard regarding issues that affect our physician members, and more important, the delivery of care to our patients. Look to Digestive CARE to continue to be the leaders in Gastroenterology and experts in your CARE.

Efforts of ACG:

ACG and GI Societies to Fight Medicare Cuts to Colonoscopy. They are committed to fighting the proposed cuts to reimbursement rates for colonoscopy and other lower GI endoscopy procedures. ACG continues to urge members of Congress to help oppose these cuts as well as cosponsor the SCREEN Act (S. 1079; HR 2035), which would maintain colonoscopy reimbursement at the 2015 levels and until the Medicare fee for service reimbursement system changes take place beginning in 2019. The SCREEN Act is currently the only legislation that deals with these changes to colonoscopy reimbursement. Read full story here.logo
